If you go out in the woods today...

....you just may run into a three delirious quilters on their way to a cozy cottage for a little mini holiday. Three old friends who have been seperated geographically but have been re-united for a short while. Picture it...3 friends, 3 sewing machines, and several quilt projects, lots of prepared meals and a few movies thrown in for when we get all our quilting projects finished
I am preparing to have a good time! Before I leave you though, I will post a few more of the pics I had taken the other day in my sewing room. See you when I get back...
a little redwork project from a previous retreat. In case you are wondering it isn't dirty, but tea stained.
a couple scrapbookprojects with photos of my family. Note to self: I really must get back and spend a little time in my scrapbooking corner, I do miss it dreadfully at times.
a little closer look at a part of my fabric cupboards.
Oops! how in the world did that picture sneak in here? This is part of a project for our upcoming quilt retreat in Feb. It's a secret though...shhh
Sorry for the poor quality of the photos; I'm not sure why they are so washed out looking. Digital cameras are wonderful, but there is something about my old 35mm that I miss.
Well the muffins are out of the oven and I am off to pack a few more things. See you in a few days!

It's been awhile...but I've been busy

I have come to the conclusion that I have definitely gotten slower over the years. Not earth shattering news I know, considering I am not 21 anymore. lol that is funny...cause I am so NOT 21 anymore, I can hardly even remember 21! However I have had a pretty decent week. I have gotten to a few jobs around the house that have been dragging for awhile. Nothing very interesting...BUT; one of the jobs I did get to was putting my sewing area back together. Boy does that feel good!

I made a small purchase for myself just before Christmas and it has been sitting in a box just waiting for the right occasion to make it's appearance. Well today is the day. After I got things tidied up I "installed" new lighting in my sewing room. Want to have a peek?

If you click on the picture and enlarge it you may be able to tell that these lights are actually little spools of colored thread. They were just too cute and in the moment I really thought I "needed" them. Of course after I got them home and re-thought things I was not so sure...but I was so happy to be back in my little sewing studio that I figured it called for a celebration so there you have it!

Want to have a look around? There is still more in depth tidying to do, things to sort through, stuff to get rid of, but at least my space is usable again.

This little "gal" sits on my sewing table, and holds some of my tools and pins. She is looking a little "huffy" today for some reason. I am thinking she has still not forgiven me for keeping her down in a messing sewing room alone for so long. She'll get over it though.

This next photo is a shelf on the wall to my right and the baskets on all three shelves hold some of my UFO's. How many you ask? I am not telling, but I will say that I am working away at finishing them.

Part of my "quilty" reading material. Lot's of inspiration and info here.

The quilty letters were a gift from my very talented scrapbooking daughter. Cute eh?

A few quilty gifts from friends and family. The friends pic was taken at our Annual Spring Retreat at Paula's camp...BLISS; pure bliss!

Buttons, buttons and more buttons! so much easier to find when they are color coordinated.

I hope to get this baby off my design wall before long...so much for deadlines. If you enlarge and look real hard to the far left you can see a little peek of some of my fabric stash, but I'll show more tomorrow. Happy stitching my friends!

How do you eat an elephant?

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time!

Being home again after such a long time away it seems like there are so many things to be done. It just seemed a little overwhelming to me and so I was doing nothing basically... However this past week or so, I have started to reclaim my space. I am eating my elephant! One bite at a time.
I have been moving furniture and cleaning and sorting and purging.(where does all this junk come from?)...catalogues, junk mail, out dated coupons, clothes that don't fit or ones you are just tired of; and on and on it goes.
I am far from being finished upstairs, but I took a break from cleaning upstairs to do some tidying in my sewing room (read major overhaul!)

Mr. O was away on business for a few days this week and I decided that Monday was a good day to play hooky from all the jobs that needed doing and go do something fun. I joined the "girls" for a quilting day at Paula's. I almost changed my mind and stayed home, simply because it just seemed like too much work. Most of my quilting supplies were still packed from moving home from the cottage; my sewing machine had not been unpacked in months; I hardly knew where anything was. However I bit the bullet and decided to put a project together and off I went. Well it was just what the doctor ordered! I want to start sewing/quilting again; and the only way I can do that is to set my "studio" back in order. Yesterday I spent a couple hours at it, and today I hope to finish things up.
There are still a lot of other things waiting for me to attend to, like Monday's basket of ironing, painting the guest room, cleaning the linen closet...but I will get to. One bite at a time. Hopefully tomorrow morning I can post some pics of a tidy sewing room and maybe even a project in the works. Ta ta for now.
